Each session provides a welcoming space to connect with others on the breastfeeding journey while receiving expert guidance from local lactation specialists and birthworkers. With rotating topics that address the diverse needs of nursing parents, these gatherings offer practical advice, emotional support, and a sense of community. Chocolate Milk Cafe Yonkers
A sacred space for breastfeeding support, designed to meet the unique needs of Families of Color. Founded by Hakima Tafunzi Payne of Uzazi Village, our mission is to:
Chocolate Milk Cafe is dedicated to addressing breastfeeding barriers faced by African-American Women and Women of Color, supporting the 10 Steps of the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative, and providing a safe community space to improve breastfeeding outcomes. At every meeting, we offer access to a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) and facilitator, with the aim of reducing disparities in maternal and infant health through comprehensive prenatal and postpartum breastfeeding education.
Chocolate Milk Cafe meets virtually, allowing anyone who identifies as part of the African diaspora to join our meetings from any location!
