My name is Nubia Earth Martin and I am the proud mother of five children; Two daughters and three sons. While pregnant with our third child, my husband and I decided we wanted a home birth experience with a midwife, easy enough right? Well, our search for a midwife whose beliefs and philosophies mirrored our own took us on a journey from Yonkers, New York to Teaneck, New Jersey!

Throughout my pregnancy I was amazed (and disappointed) at the lack of resources available in my immediate area. It was in my 6th month of pregnancy that I decided to take a course to become a Child Birth Educator. I was enlightened by all of the information I attained and decided that I wanted to make childbirth education a top priority for expectant women and their partners. Knowledge is power and because pregnancy is such a wonderful time of celebration we should be able to have the facts we need to truly embrace the entire experience.

It is my goal to make childbirth education as important as prenatal care and as natural as nature.

Thus, Birth from The Earth was born!

I have worked hard on creating informative, engaging and interactive child birth education classes because I believe, when you know your body, you know your choices and you have a voice!

In the Spring of 2009 I completed a course to become a Certified Birth Doula (Birth Companion). In addition to offering childbirth classes I am qualified to attend to you during your pregnancy, during your labor and delivery and immediately postpartum.

As of May 2011 I am became Certified as a Postpartum Birth Worker, available to help out in your home in the first few weeks after your baby is born.

I worked for The Health Department of Westchester County at the WIC office in Yonkers, NY as a breastfeeding counselor from June 2010 to October 2012.

In June of 2013 I took the Certified Lactation Counselor(CLC) training through the Healthy Children Project organization and learned many of the up-to-date techniques to get breastfeeding off to a great start. I am certified through The Academy of Lactation Policy and Practice, Inc. (ALPP)

I am also Certified through the American Heart Association (AMA) in Infant, Child and Adult CPR, I took an amazing Rebozo training class and learned an abundance of additional relaxation and support techniques to use in connection with my birth doula clients.

I received my Bachelors Degree in Sociology from The College of New Rochelle in May of 2014, and I received my Masters of Science in Midwifery degree from SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY in May of 2018!

I have acquired an abundance of information through self-study and hands-on experience through the clients that I have served as a childbirth educator, birth and postpartum birth worker, CLC and presently as a Birth Assistant with JJB Midwifery and other midwifery practices. I feel the wisdom that is passed on via experience and sitting at the feet of wise teachers is extremely sacred and vital.

My passion for supreme care and my trust in Universal Alignment has led me to connect with some amazing energies, people and places. I don't take this for granted, I honor the path and answer the calling. Traditional Holistic Healing are the cornerstones of my approach to wellness and life.

In 2022 I completed a post-graduate degree in International Midwifery and Maternal & Infant Health, with Mercy in Action, as I plan to travel abroad to countries in Northern Africa to continue to offer stellar care that respects the customs, traditions and beliefs of the families that I have the honor to serve. In 2022 I also chose to extend my learning and study with Jennie Joseph through her Commonsense Childbirth Midwifery School. We incorporate aspects of the JJ Way into services at Birth from The Earth, and we are a Perinatal Safe Spot!
